Coffee making sounds simple but there are many possible pitfalls that can render any cup undrinkable. A lack luster tepid brew or a thick choking strong brew can easily be produced. So how can common coffee brewing mistakes be avoided.

To make the perfect cup the brewer doesn’t have to be an alchemist. To achieve a rich aroma and a silky smoothness follow some simple rules and steps on grains, water, measurements, and cleanliness.

It makes sense that to produce a tasty cup the proper key ingredient must be used. For a novice this can seem a mammoth task as there are so many variations of bean on the market. Ethiopian beans produce a delicate aroma where as Kenya beans are known for their robustness. Either way the flavor is down to personal palette. The main concern when buying beans is to make sure they are fresh.

The best way to produce the freshest grind is to purchase a small grinder and prepare the roasted beans for each brew. Sometimes even if the beans are freshly ground they still produce a bitter tasting cup as the beans are stale, therefore only buy whole beans from a reputable source. Ground beans should be purchased in air-tight packs and after opening kept in a cool dry place in an air tight container.

Once the beans have been purchased consider the grind required. If the coffee maker has a short brew time buy fine blends, for brewers which take longer a courser blend is recommended. Or purchase a medium blend to cover all option.

With out water a bean will not become a brew. Often little consideration is given to this important element. Water taken directly from the tap often has components added like chlorine, which can under heat react and produce a chemical taste. An easy way to avoid this is to filter the water beforehand.

Once the bean and water are sorted it is then time to infuse them which comes down to the question of measurement. One rule of thumb is to take the water capacity of the maker divide by six and add that number of scoops. However with so many factors like freshness, variation in coffee bean, and the grind is never an exact science.

The final step is to make sure the machine is clean. Always wash, rinse, and wipe the vessel the blend is collected in on each and every brew. Make sure that clean water is added each time and that there is no old water left. Then the perfect cup is quite achievable.

These 1 cup coffee makers are pretty neat – you need to take a look at our Breville single serve coffee maker right now.

A coffee pod machine is a machine that brews coffee from coffee pods. In case you didn’t know, coffee pods are basically small filters wrapping just the right amount of coffee for one cup. We’ll go over a few reasons as to why one might choose to replace their old, traditional coffee maker with a coffee pod machine.

Why Should I Use A Coffee Pod Machine At Home?

There are a lot of people nowadays that live alone. Those people have no need whatsoever of coffee makers that make four cups of coffee every single time it’s turned on. Not only does this end up being wasteful but, with gourmet coffee, it can be very expensive. This is even more true for those who work at home and may brew multiple batches every day, at different parts of the day, trying to keep their supply of caffeine fresh. No one likes stale coffee, after all. Even families can benefit from utilizing a coffee pod machine as opposed to your traditional coffee maker if there are multiple people that like coffee, but at various times, in the same house. If you make yourself a cup before leaving for your night shift, it’ll hardly be good when your spouse gets up in the morning to take the kids to school.

So Would A Coffee Pod Machine Make Sense In The Office?

A machine that makes a single cup of coffee wouldn’t be very useful in the office, would it? Lots of people are going to be drinking on whatever is made, especially once they smell the coffee, and therefore want some. So most people assume that the most efficient way to make coffee for an office is with a traditional coffee maker. Well, not necessarily. What if they don’t all want to drink the coffee at the same time? How much coffee do you suppose gets dumped down the sink at your office as the employees make a “fresh pot” every hour or so? Depending on the size of the office, making single cups of coffee may still be more efficient than whole batches.

A Coffee Pod Machine Gives Provides Flavor Options

Almost everyone has a specific preference when it comes to coffee. It doesn’t matter if there is a pot of perfectly good brew sitting a few cubes over; you’ll still have people running up three flights of stairs to get to the machine that has the coffee that they want to drink, be it french vanilla or amaretto, or whatever. A coffee pod machine that can handle all of that just might save the company and the individual some time.

Coffee Pod Machines Are Probably Not Nearly As Expensive As You Might Think

Most assume that, because they’re considered a more gourmet type option, that coffee pod machines are extremely expensive. This is not necessarily the case. For the most part, a coffee pod machine will cost around as much as a typical coffee maker, in some cases paying for themselves by saving waste. Besides, even if you don’t save money, you’ll always have a fresh cup of coffee.
