Espresso is actually too good to be called just coffee. It is brewed in such a way that makes it special and certainly in a class of its own. It may seem as though espresso should be an old treat, however, 1901 is the first we were blessed with it. Read on and find out that you will love having coffee from your own espresso machine.

The caffeine you will consume in espresso is more than in some other drinks, however, it is less than in a regular cup of coffee. It has a higher brewing strength because of the way that it is made, but less caffeine. The term shot came from the way that it was served out of a particular type of machine that makes espresso. That type of machine uses a lever or handle to pull out a shot at a time.

One of the great things about making it is that any type of beans and roasting can be used. The only difference that will be made is in the flavor. You do have to have some type of a machine to make espresso, however.

Coffee is hit with hot water that has been pressurized in some way, and that is what makes espresso. You can purchase several different types of machines, they include air, steam, pump, and piston. Each will be in a different price range and have advantages and disadvantages.

A steam machine will force water through coffee with pressure. This was the very first type of machine available. These are still used today, and they are much cheaper than some other types that are currently available.

The piston or lever forces water through when it is pulled, and this was created in 1945. The operator manually makes the espresso by the shot per order. There are two different types of this machine including a spring and a manual.

In 1961, the pump machine came along. It has become the most widely used, and the most popular where large amounts are served. Instead of having to manually force the water, a pump does it for you. There are different types of this machine for home and commercial use. Some of the commercial machines attach directly to plumbing instead of having a water reservoir.

The newer machine uses forced air to accomplish the task, and we received this invention in 2007. It uses an air-pump to provide pressure which forces the water through the coffee in order to make the espresso. These machines have really made a big difference in commercial and home use. They are much smaller and lighter, and some are very portable.
